Manchester City have completed the signing of German winger Leroy Sane for £37 million on a five-year contract, reported The Guardian. While the deal was officially announced on Tuesday, Schalke on Monday had announced on Twitter that the 20-year-old had flown to Manchester to complete his medical.
Sane becomes City's most expensive signing of the summer. An excellent start to his career at FC Schalke had paved the way for multiple suitors. His pace and eye for goals is something that has caught the eye of many. He was a part of Germany's Euro 2016 campaign and came on in the second half of the semi-final against France, where Die Mannschaft bowed out following a 0-2 loss. Sane will join his compatriot Ilkay Gundogan, Ukrainian teenager Oleksandr Zinchenko and Spanish forward Nolito as the new faces of the club.
City manager Pep Guardiola's outlay shows a definitive signal of intent as he looks to wrestle back the title the club had last won two years ago. Last season was a major breakthrough for Sane, who appeared in 42 games across all competitions, earning him a spot in the Euros. City are also tracking the £50 million-valued Evertonian defender John Stones, according to reports.
