The first thing I am waiting for in the New Year is a letter from the sport's governing body informing me that I have been selected for the 2016 Rio Olympics qualifier. If I am chosen, it will be a huge boost for me. With everyone's blessings, I will definitely try my best to excel and win a medal for India.
I used to feel very sad earlier about gymnastics being compared to the circus in India. But I am glad to see that the popular perception about the sport is slowly changing and that is wonderful. I hope it continues and people start waking up to the fact that gymnastics is a difficult, highly-competitive sport played at the world level. I have been getting a lot of support from my federation, especially in the run-up to the Olympics, and I hope that it continues for an even better 2016.
