This will be an evening remembered for Avinash Mukund Sable, regardless of his sixth place finish. The 29-year-old from Beed once again bettered his own men’s 3000m steeplechase to establish himself as one of the biggest Indian names to watch out at the Paris Olympics later this month.

Sable not only became the first Indian to dip below 8 minutes and 10 seconds in the event, but is also now the joint fourth fastest Asian in history.

Kishore Jena, meanwhile, continued to struggle to finish eighth in a 10-man javelin field.

Paris Diamond League, Men’s Javelin Throw: Julian Weber wins the event with his fifth attempt of 85.91m.

Anderson Peters second with 85.19m, while Vadljech finishes third with 85.04m.

Peters: 83.92m

Vadljech: 82.57

Paris Diamond League, Men’s Javelin Throw: Kishore Jena’s struggles continue. 76.57m with his fifth attempt and he finishes eighth. Only the top three get to take the sixth attempt.

Jakub Vadlejch with yet another 85.04m, but that is not enough to climb up from the third spot. Arshad Nadeem comes up with a 84.21m throw to finish fourth.

The competition is nicely poised with one round of throws left. Vadlejch, Peters, Weber are all between 85m and 86m.

Peters follows it up with 85.19m to move up to second. Suddenly the heat has been turned up!

Jakub Vadljech, meanwhile, has registered a massive 85.04m throw to take the lead.

Weber, however, continues to lead with his first round 83.41m throw. Peters is second with 83.40m.

Paris Diamond League, Men’s Javelin Throw: A 78.10m throw to start off for Kishore Jena. That puts him fourth after the first round of throws behind Julian Weber, Anderson Peters, and Andrian Mardare.

Weber is the only one to go past the 80m mark in the first round. He leads with 83.41m.

Hello and welcome to Scroll’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Diamond League

The 2024 Paris Olympics is less than a month away and preparations for the Games are in full swing. Fine tuning their preparations at the eighth Diamond League meeting of the season in the Olympic host city tonight are Avinash Sable and Kishore Kumar Jena.

Sable, competing in the 3000m Steeplechase, will mark his first Diamond League appearance of the season in Paris. He will be up against some formidable opponents including Abraham Kibiwot, Simon Koech.

Jena, meanwhile, returns to the Diamond League after having competed in the Doha meet earlier in the year. He will be the sole Indian participant in men’s javelin throw with Neeraj Chopra opting out of the event.

Jena will be up against some quality throwers like Jakub Vadljech, Arshad Nadeem, Anderson Peters, Julian Weber and others.
