That victory from Sathiyan Gnanasekaran draws curtains on all the Friday action from the Indian contingent in Hangzhou. It was a day of highs for India as the country’s men’s table tennis team registered consecutive victories, whereas the women’s team too came out on top against Singapore in a tightly fought contest.
Besides, rower Balraj Panwar made it to the medal final of the men’s singles sculls while the sailors continued from where they had left off on Thursday.

Asian Games, Table Tennis: Indian men’s team defeat Singapore 3-1
Sathiyan Gnanasekaran registers a 11-7, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6 win over Pang Yew En Koen in the fourth match to help India to their second consecutive victory of the day.
Asian Games, Table Tennis: Achanta Sharath Kamal goes down 11-13, 8-11, 12-10, 5-11 against Chew Zhe Yu Charence as Singapore fight back in the men’s tie.
Sathiyan Gnanasekaran will play his second match of the tie now.

This is Jian’s second win of the day after having defeated Ayhika Mukherjee earlier.

Asian Games, Cricket: Bangladesh are through to the semi-final of the women’s event. They made it to the last four by virtue of being the higher ranked team, after their quarter-final against Hong Kong was abandoned due to rain. They will take on India for a spot in the final.

In the girl’s Dinghy – ILCA4 event, Neha Thakur is second out of eight sailors after four races.
Eabad Ali is fourth out of six sailors after six races in the men’s Windsurfer RS:X – RS:X event.
In the women’s Skiff - 49erFX event, Harshita Tomar and Shital Verma are third out of six pairs after six races.
Ishwariya Ganesh in the women’s Windsurfer RS:X – RS:X event is fourth out of four sailors after six races.
Adhvait Menon is fourth out of 12 sailors after four races in the boy’s Dinghy – ILCA4 event.
In the men’s Skiff – 49er, Ganapathy Chengappa Kelapanda and Varun Ashok Thakkar are fourth out of eight pairs after six races.
In the Mixed Multihull – Nacra 17 event, the pair of Siddeshwar Indar Doiphode and Ramya Saravanan are fourth out of five pairs after six races.
Tatha Chitresh is seventh out of seven sailors in the men’s Kite – IKA Formula Kite after eight races.
Preethi Kongara and Shekhar Sudhanshu are sixth out of seven pairs after four races in the Mixed Dinghy – 470 event.
Vishnu Saravanan is first out of 13 sailors in the men’s Dinghy ILCA7 after four races.
In the women’s Single Dinghy – ILCA6 event, Nethra Kumanan is fourth out of nine sailors after four races.
Jerome Kumar Savarimuthu is seventh out of nine sailors after eight races in the men’s Windsurfing - iQFoil event.

Asian Games, Volleyball: India have done it! They beat 2018 bronze medallists Chinese Taiperi 25-22, 25-22, 25-21 to progress to the next round! The Indians will next face Japan for a place in the semi-finals.
Asian Games, Rowing: Balraj Panwar has qualified for the medal final in men’s single sculls. The 23-year-old, who started competing in the sport only three years ago, had a slow start to the semi-final, but kept pace with the Chinese and Kazakh rower to finish third with a timing of 7:22.22. The final will be held on Monday, September 25 at 7am IST.
Asian Games, Volleyball: The Indians take the momentum into the second set. They opened up a healthy lead and kept Chinese Taipei away only losing the lead once. But India staved off their fight back to clinch the second set 25-22.

Asian Games, Volleyball: India have picked up from where they left off against South Korea! They trailed for most of the set with Chinese-Taipei leading 20-15 at one stage. The Indians fought back superbly to level the score at 21-21 and 22-22 before closing out the set 25-22.

Asian Games, Volleyball: Just days ago, the Indian men’s volleyball pulled out the upset of the tournament when they beat three-time Asian Games champion South Korea in the group stage. Today, they will face another Asian giant in 2018 Asian Games bronze medallists Chinese-Taipei in the Round of 12.
Asian Games: Later today, the men’s volleyball team will take on Chinese Taipei in a Cross Match for Top 12. That match begins at 12 pm.
The India men’s table tennis team will return at 3:30 pm to face Singapore in their second Group F match, but that will be only after the women’s table tennis team begins its campaign against Singapore, at 1:30 pm.
At 1:00 pm, Balraj Panwar will compete in the men’s singles sculls rowing semi-final, while Mayank Chaphekar competes in the fencing event in the Modern Pentathlon.

We are still one day away from the Asian Games opening ceremony in Hangzhou but many events are already underway.
On Thursday, the Indian contingent ended the day on a mixed note. While the women’s cricket team qualified for the semi-final with rain washing out the game against Malaysia, the men’s football team bounced back with a 1-0 win over Bangladesh.
However, the women’s football team lost their opening game against Chinese Taipei 1-2.
Meanwhile, the Indian sailors still have some races to go while the Indian rowers qualified for three medal finals.

In action today are the Indian table tennis contingent, the men’s volleyball team in their first knock out match. Additionally, Indian rowers, sailors, will also continue the campaign they began on Friday.
India’s lone representative in modern pentathlon Chaphekar Mayank Vaibhav will also be in action.
