Leading Australian spinner Adam Zampa who has tested positive for Covid ahead of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match against Sri Lanka later on Tuesday, a report said.
Australia won the toss and chose to bowl against Sri Lanka on Tuesday with spinner Adam Zampa ruled out due to Covid-19 in their crunch Super 12 match of the Twenty20 World Cup.
Ashton Agar, a left-arm spinner, replaced Adam Zampa, whose symptoms are “minor in severity”, in the XI with no other changes to the team that lost to the Kiwis by 89 runs in a tough Group 1 that also includes England.
Zampa is displaying only minor symptoms, cricket.com.au had said, citing a team spokesperson.
The leg-spinner could still play because tournament rules allow infected players to do so, but he will have to travel separately from the rest of the team.
Ireland’s George Dockrell played on Sunday in Hobart against Asian champions Sri Lanka despite having Covid.
Defending champions Australia are looking to bounce back against Sri Lanka from their opening loss to New Zealand in a tough Group 1 which also includes England.
