ICC live scores for India-Bangladesh here.

Mithali Raj opts to bat in Hamilton.

India post 229/7 in 50 overs.

Bangladesh 119 all out in 40.3 overs.

South Africa vs Australia: Meg Lanning masterclass takes Australia to six wins out of six. Scores here.

India win by 110 runs: A quick update on the scenarios. A SA win vs WI on Thursday would mean better chances to finish in top four for India, as it would give them a margin for error against the Proteas. But a SA defeat vs WI will put India in with a good chance to finish 2nd/3rd perhaps with just a win against Sune Luus’ side in the final league match. Depends on your optimism levels, of course.

Player of the match: Yastika Bhatia

POINTS TABLE: India’s NRR improves from +0.456 to +0.768 on the back of that win and they are in the third position ahead of West Indies. Their future will be a bit more clearer after the SA vs WI clash on Thursday.

WICKET! 40.3: Ritu Moni 16(36) b Jhulan Goswami A full ball at the base of the offstump, too good for Ritu Moni. Bangladesh 119/10

Bangladesh 118/9 after 40 overs: Jahanara Alam and Ritu Moni in the middle. Jhulan Goswami comes back.

Bangladesh 115/9 after 39 overs: Rana finishes with brilliant figures of 4/30 in her 10 overs.

WICKET! 36.5: Nahida Akter 0(9) ct & b Sneh Rana And now Rana joins Pooja (And a few others) on 10 wickets too! Speaking of the two, a collision there for the catch. Thankfully no damage done. Bangladesh 104/9

Bangladesh 104/8 after 36 overs: Ritu Moni with a couple of outside edges past Rana a gully off Gayakwad and India’s efficiency is going to take a serious hit.

WICKET! 34.2: Fahima Khatun 1(5) lbw Sneh Rana Wow, that’s got to go down as the most optimistic review of the tournament. Completely misses the sweep off a full ball, plumb as it gets. Bangladesh 100/8

WICKET! 32.5: Lata Mondal 24(46) ct Harmanpreet Kaur b Pooja Vastrakar The other well-set batter is out too and now Vastrakar joins a list of bowlers at the top of the charts with 10 wickets in the tournament. Bangladesh 98/7

Bangladesh 94/6 after 32 overs: Poonam Yadav is back for a spell and she’d like to pick up a few and keep her name in contention (although how she’d play ahead of Rana and Gayakwad on a regular pitch remains to be seen).

Bangladesh 91/6 after 31 overs: A four for Ritu Moni as Vastrakar comes back.

Bangladesh 83/6 after 30 overs: Time for a drinks break. And a nice moment here too...

WICKET! 27.4: Salman Khatun 32(35) ct Richa Ghosh b Jhulan Goswami A lovely cutter it seemed that bounced on Salma and the edge is taken by Richa. End of a lovely little innings. It also keeps a record going for Jhulan. Bangladesh 75/6

Jhulan Goswami comes back for a second spell

Bangladesh 69/5 after 25 overs: 7-4-6-1 is the update to Gayakwad’s figures. Shockingly concedes 2 runs in one over! On a serious note, this partnership between Lata Mondal and Salma Khatun has made India work hard. A four for Salma in Sneh Rana’s over.

Bangladesh 55/5 after 22 overs: Back-to-back maiden overs for Rajeshwari who has ridiculous figures of 6-4-4-1 at the moment. A big appeal for LBW against Lata Mondol in that over, umpire’s call for hitting the stumps.

Bangladesh 50/5 after 20 overs: And now we officially will have a full game. And after three straight days of worrying about washouts at this World Cup... if this World Cup actually manages to defeat rain through out, give it GOAT status, no questions asked! India in full control.

Bangladesh 50/5 after 19 overs: Salma Khatun has come out swinging. Two fours in Poonam’s over, the lack of pace put to use by the Bangladesh veteran playing late.

Bangladesh 40/5 after 18 overs: Rajeshwari G and Rani ji have been really good to watch pretty much all through their time in New Zealand. The drift, turn, bounce when on offer... delightful.

WICKET! 17.2: Rumana Ahmed 2(8) ct Yastika Bhatia b Sneh Rana That seemed rather obvious in real time and Rumana had nearly started to walk but the umpire said not out. India review successfully once again. Bangladesh 35/5

WICKET! 16.3: Murshida Khatun 19(54) ct Harmanpreet Kaur b Poonam Yadav There’s the first wicket for Poonam in this tournament. Lofted cover drive, India’s best fielder is at it again. Good leap, one juggle, and safely held. Bangladesh 31/4

Bangladesh 31/3 after 16 overs: Nearly another wicket for Rana! Turn and bounce, Yastika dives to her right at silly point, just evades her. Tough chance.

Bangladesh 28/3 after 14 overs: Poonam and Rana bowling in tandem now.

WICKET! 13.5: Nigar Sultana 3(11) ct Harmanpreet Kaur b Sneh Rana The wicket was coming for Rana. The captain too is gone and the scoreboard pressure is starting to show. Wild heave, caught at long on by India’s best fielder. Bangladesh 28/3

Bangladesh 22/2 after 12 overs: Just from the broadcast, it seems a bit overcast at the moment. India should really just persist with spin till 20 overs are done. Sneh Rana nearly gets her first, but the edge doesn’t loop to Jhulan at slip this time.

Bangladesh 19/2 after 10 overs: Sneh Rana finishes off a brilliant powerplay for India, she will only make Bangladesh’s life harder here.

WICKET! 8.5: Fargana Hoque 0(11) lbw Pooja Vastrakar GOOD REVIEW! Pooja Vastrakar was convinced that she had Fargana Hoque Pinky LBW. India go for DRS and she is right. Plumb in front. It’s a big blow for Bangladesh. Bangladesh 15/2

Bangladesh 14/1 after 8 overs: 4-2-4-1. What a start by Rajeshwari Gayakwad. She has been delightful to watch this World Cup.

WICKET! 5.1: Sharmin Akhter 5(17) ct Sneh Rana b Rajeshwari Gayakwad The pressure does pay, despite that brief release with a six in the previous over. Delightful from RajeshwariG, the ball loops off RichaG, Ranaji takes the catch at slip. Bangladesh 12/1

Bangladesh 6/0 after 4 overs: JhulanG and RajeshwariG not giving much away. Pressure building nice and early.

Bangladesh 3/0 after 2 overs: An LBW appeal that had more merit than India thought, I think. No review.

Gayakwad from the other end.

Bangladesh 0/0 after 1 over: Only a win will do. Their semifinal hopes are on the line. Not the best of batting performances again. Can the bowlers step up? Jhulan Goswami starts off with a maiden over. Murshida, back in the XI after Dunedin against NZ, cautious to start.

Cannot help but think the biggest challenge for Australia at this World Cup is Australia themselves I think. If they manage to operate close to this level on a match-by-match basis, good luck to everyone else battling for second spot.

Innings break: India 229/7 after 50 overs

(Correction) India 229/7 after 50 overs: A decent start and a good finish to the innings, with Yastika Bhatia holding things together in the middle. Another below par batting performance by India but might be just about a par score to defend against Bangladesh.

WICKET! 49.3: Sneh Rana 27(23) ct Ritu Moni b Jahanara Alam One cheeky shot too many, something of a sendoff from Jahanara. Good innings comes to an end India 224/7

India 222/6 after 49 overs: This is like the Pakistan match all over again. A four each for Rana and Vastrakar in the Nahida over. 13 runs off it.

India 209/6 after 48 overs: Smart batting from Rana, lovely scoop past the ‘keeper off Jahanara’s seam up stuff. Pace on the ball, used effectively. Singles off five balls. Good over for India.

India 200/6 after 47 overs: Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana are once again rallying this Indian batting effort. A four for Vastrakar brings up the 200.

India 191/6 after 46 overs: Good running from the two batters who are the best strike rotators in this side. All run 7-run over.

Just what a sensational stat this is

India 184/6 after 45 overs: Nearly a run out at non-striker’s end for Sneh Rana and then Pooja Vastrakar is dropped. That could prove costly for Bangladesh.

WICKET! 43.1: Yastika Bhatia 50(80) ct Nahida Akter b Ritu Moni For all the talk about the spin-friendly wicket, the medium pace of Ritu Moni and her change of pace has proved deadly effective. Yastika with a soft dismissal not dissimilar to Mandhana’s. India 176/6

HALF CENTURY: Yastika Bhatia gets her second fifty of the World Cup, after a few nervous dots. Hard-working innings.

India 174/5 after 42 overs: India are not still unable to put the foot on the pedal.

India 165/5 after 40 overs: India would have loved to have Richa Ghosh in the final 10 overs to tee off, but it is yet another wicket that falls when they should be looking to pressing their advantage. Vastrakar joins Yastika into the end overs...

WICKET! 38.5: Richa Ghosh 26(36) ct Nigar Sultana b Nahida Akter yep, we jinxed Richas’ cut. Another one too close to cut, the outside edge is taken sharply this time. India 162/5

In Wellington, a 15th ODI century for Meg Lanning.

Over 37.3: Oh, just as we spoke about the cut shot, Richa gets a thick edge, and Nigar is unable to hold on. And she is hurt too. India 160/4, break in lay.

India 158/4 after 37 overs: While we speak about Lanning in Wellington, she would nod approvingly of the cut shots Richa Ghosh has played so far in this innings too. The 50-partnership comes up.

Update from Wellington: Wait, Meg Lanning is into the 90s? We were only half following the innings but how on earth is she on 90 in the 27th over with the team score 156?! This is sorcery.

India 156/4 after 36 overs: The 150 comes up for India and Richa finishes that Fahima over with a powerful cut for four.

India 147/4 after 35 overs: This partnership is keeping things ticking over for now

India 137/4 after 33 overs: Yastika finding the gaps well, she has moved on to 35. Richa too looking steady in the middle. This partnership is massive for India. They have two proper No 11s in the lineup today, and Sneh Rana has struggled with the bat recently. Not much form after this pair apart from Pooja Vastrakar.

In Wellington: Lanning has activated chase mode but Australia have lose the wicket of Mooney too due to a brilliant direct hit. Game on in Wellington? (Perry is not in the middle yet as he has a back issue) Scores here.

India 133/4 after 32 overs: Yastika is timing them really well now. Lovely sweep off Fahima’s wrist-spin for four.

India 121/4 after 30 overs: Richa Ghosh has hit a couple of boundaries while Yastika Bhatia has been there in the middle for a while. How much more can India get from here? Will they bat the 50 overs?

If India had a list of things that shouldn’t happen today, I imagine it would’ve been something like:

 1. Don’t lose openers in back-to-back overs

2. Don’t lose captain for a 1-ball 0

3. Don’t lose your in-form batter for a run out

That is what has happened, of course.

WICKET! 27.2: Harmanpreet Kaur 14(33) Run Out Fargana Hoque That’s last on the list of things India needed today, alongside perhaps a golden duck for Mithali Raj. The running has been a bit of an issue with both these batters and Harman is caught short by a bullet direct hit. India 108/4

STAT ALERT:

India 100/3 after 25 overs: Harmanpreet Kaur and Yastika Bhatia have steadied the ship for now. Lata and Rumana bowling in tandem at the moment.

India 93/3 after 23 overs: First sighting of the Harman sweep for four. Comes off the last ball of Rumana’s second over.

India 86/3 after 22 overs: Finally, a four. The runs have completely dried up. Yastika Bhatia removes some pressure with a four... but nearly a massive mix-up in the 22nd over. Yastika was off to the middle of the pitch, big turning radius but dives in time.

Another look at that madness from Mignon.

India 80/3 after 20 overs: A huge rebuilding task ahead for Harmanpreet Kaur and Yastika Bhatia. Wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say India’s tournament is on the line here.

Meanwhile in Wellington!

India 79/3 after 18 overs: Harmanpreet Kaur and Yastika Bhatia have to completely restart this Indian innings, both starting on 0 off 0 balls. Just one run off Khatun’s over, followed by four off Ritu Moni.

15.4: Mithali Raj 0(1) ct Fahima Khatun b Ritu Moni WHAT IS GOING ON! A stunning turn of events in a matter of minutes (including a drinks break in the middle). Mithali is out for a first-ball duck and it’s a checked cover drive that has gone horribly wrong. India 74/3

WICKET! 15.3: Shafali Verma 42(42) st Nigar Sultana b Ritu Moni Like London buses, one comes and then two after waiting for a while. Shafali goes walking down the pitch, beaten outside the offstump, superb stumping by the skipper. India 74/2

WICKET! 14.6: Smriti Mandhana 30(51) ct Fargana Hoque b Nahida Akter Oh dear! Nahida can only smile wryly. Short ball, outside leg, but Smriti Mandhana pulls it straight to the fielder at square leg. Could have put it anywhere! (As we said earlier... that shot!) India 74/1

India 72/0 after 14 overs: A cut behind point for four by Shafali and she is into the 40s.

India 63/0 after 13 overs: Nahida has responded well to an expensive first over.

India 61/0 after 12 overs: Bangladesh lose a review. Nigar was convinced she caught Shafali off an outside edge, but Shafali immediately suggested it was pad on bat. A streaky four for her earlier in the over.

India 56/0 after 11 overs: Steady over from Nahida.

India 52/0 after 10 overs: 4-0-4-4 Shafali Verma finishes the powerplay brilliantly, taking on Jahanara Alam this time.

India 39/0 after 9 overs: Shafali Verma has largely been off strike in the first eight overs but at the start of the ninth, she goes big! 6-2-4.... that’s Shafali at her best. The boundaries coming off sweeps down the ground (the four slightly wide of long on but the six nice and straight).

Nahida Akter comes on, left-arm spin.

India 25/0 after 8 overs: No spin in tandem just yet... Jahanara with her 4th over, just two singles. Shafali just starting to look a bit restless, at the crease, shuffling around.

India 23/0 after 7 overs: Having gotten used to the pace perhaps, Mandhana confident enough to come down the ground and loft Salma over cover for four.

India 18/0 after 6 overs: Shafali has just faced 8 balls so far, Mandhana retains strike again.

India 16/0 after 5 overs: Almost an almighty mix-up, and Mandhana quickly apologises. Nearly sold Shafali down the river. Maiden over from Salma, who nearly had Mandhana puzzled with one that went with the arm.

India 16/0 after 4 overs: Better over from Jahanara. Shafali has largely been away from strike, gets a couple off the middle of the bat... should help her settle in.

With Shamima Sultana not playing, Nigar Sultana is the captain-keeper today

India 13/0 after 3 overs: No turn, but first signs of the pitch holding up a bit. Patient Mandhana against Khatun, retains the strike for next over.

India 11/0 after 2 overs: Not much turn on offer in the first over of Salma. Jahanara’s pace from the other end and Mandhana finishes the over with two fours. One through off, and a pull through square leg (the one that thrills and worries India fans in equal measure perhaps!)

Update from Wellington: Nearly 8 an over in the last 10 for South Africa as they finish strongly to post 271. Laura Wolvaardt misses out on a ton but she top scores again for her side. Will this challenge the mighty Aussie batting lineup?

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma in the middle and straight away spin from Bangladesh. Salma Khatun to start us off.

You can watch the Smriti Mandhana feature on the World Cup website here.

Time for the national anthems in Hamilton. It’s the Rabindranath Tagore sing-off!

Bangladesh XI: Sharmin Akhter, Murshida Khatun, Fargana Hoque, Nigar Sultana(w/c), Rumana Ahmed, Ritu Moni, Lata Mondal, Salma Khatun, Nahida Akter, Fahima Khatun, Jahanara Alam

05.50 am: India are in must-win territory for the rest of the World Cup. They take on Bangladesh today in Hamilton knowing a win is imperative. Can they get their third ‘W’ on board? Bangladesh won’t make it easy. Hopefully we should get some weather update soon.

05.45 am: Hello and welcome to live updates of India’s clash with tournament debutants Bangladesh at the ICC Women’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2022.

In top four as things stand, Mithali Raj and co are in must-win territory from here on if their dream of winning the World Cup has to come alive. A maximum of four matches left, and a minimum of two. This is the business end. Slip-ups will likely mean the end of the road.

These two nations have played four ODI matches against each other, and India are unbeaten so far, winning on all four occasions. They last met at the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Colombo and India won by nine wickets.
