A suspected militant was killed in an encounter with security forces on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, the Army said. The security forces are battling more suspected militants, reported Kashmir Reader.

An unidentified police official told PTI that the forces launched a search operation in a forest in Kupwara’s Handwara area on Sunday night after receiving information about the presence of suspected militants.

“When the militants were cornered, they opened fire at the search team,” Army spokesperson RK Panday told Kashmir Reader. “In retaliatory fire, one unknown militant has been killed.”
