The Bihar Police arrested a school principal, a teacher and two students after a Class 10 student of a private school in the state’s Saran district accused 15 classmates and some teachers of raping her over the past seven months. The 14-year-old girl and her father filed a first information report against the 15 students, two teachers and the principal on Friday.
“School principal Uday Kumar Singh, teacher Balajee and two male students have been arrested,” Ekma Police Station House Officer Anuj Kumar said said according to The New Indian Express. “The 14 other accused are absconding. Raids are being conducted to arrest them.”
Police officer Indira Rani, in charge of the women’s police station, took the girl to hospital for medical examinations to determine rape.
The girl said that the assaults began in December, when five students raped her inside the school toilet, and made a video. They then shared the video with other school students, and it finally reached some teachers and the principal.
“The poor girl, apprehending stigma and the video going viral in public went on succumbing to the carnal desires of other boys and two teachers in possession of the video,” Superintendent of Police Har Kishore Rai said, according to the Hindustan Times. The students kept blackmailing the complainant and raped her, he added.
The girl sought the principal’s help, but he asked her to stay silent as the incident would “bring disrepute” to her and the school. Then, he summoned her one day after school and raped her in his chamber, Rai said.
