A boundary railing collapsed on the coach of a Delhi metro train on the Violet Line between Jangpura and Lajpat Nagar stations on Thursday disrupting services, PTI reported. Heavy showers lashed Delhi in the afternoon, causing water logging and traffic jams in several parts of the city.
The Violet Line connects Kashmere Gate in Delhi to Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad. The incident took place at around 4 pm, an unidentified Delhi Metro Rail Corporation official told PTI. “Services are being run in two loops – Nehru Place to Escorts Mujesar, and Central Secretariat to Kashmere Gate, till the railing is removed,” the official said.
The India Meteorological Department forecast more rain overnight in the National Capital Region. “More rains are expected towards the evening and may continue overnight,” a weather department official told PTI. “The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle around 38 and 26 degrees Celsius.”
The Met Department also predicted heavy showers at several places in Goa, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gujarat and Karnataka. Officials said Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and parts of Karnataka would experience gusty winds and lightning.
