Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said an effective and honest administration in Jammu and Kashmir would ensure peace and security in the Valley, PTI reported. Singh chaired a high-level review meeting in Srinagar a day after meeting Governor NN Vohra.
“The dream of a developed and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir will be realised when there is peace and normalcy in the state,” Singh said. “It is our firm resolve to bring peace, stability and prosperity through an honest, effective and efficient administration for the problems facing the state.”
The home minister’s visit to the Amarnath caves was cancelled because of bad weather, IANS reported. He will return to New Delhi later in the day.
On Wednesday, Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval chaired review meetings at the Raj Bhavan and Hari Niwas, Greater Kashmir reported. The Union minister discussed with Vohra various developmental projects, the security situation and the positive engagement of youth in Jammu and Kashmir, a spokesperson for the governor’s office told Greater Kashmir.
Singh and Doval are in the state to review the ongoing Amarnath pilgrimage and to seek the latest information on militancy in the Valley, according to Greater Kashmir. Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba is accompanying them. This is the minister’s first visit to the state after Governor’s Rule was imposed on June 20.
