After World War II, most countries started vying for to conquer space. The Cold War space race was a game of one-upmanship between the Soviet Union and the United States. The Soviets started with Sputnik, but America would finally win out with their Apollo program which put twelve men on the moon over multiple missions.
India’s space program doesn’t have the same well publicised backdrop, but its history is just as rich. Since 1962, India has had an active space program that has launched multiple satellites that are part of the Indian National Satellite system (INSAT) and its Indian Remote Sensing satellites that effectively cover nearly everything over Indian subcontinent. India has even managed to get all the way to Mars.
