Security forces on Friday killed three suspected militants in an ongoing gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A civilian was also killed in clashes which erupted after security forces used pump action guns to disperse protesters who had gathered near the site of the encounter in Thumna village of Chatpora area, Greater Kashmir reported. A police official said the deceased was identified as Faizan Ahmad Khan, a resident of Khrew Pampore area.
Khan suffered a bullet injury to his abdomen and was taken to the district hospital in Pulwama, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Five more civilians were injured in the clashes, according to PTI.
Earlier in the day, an Army spokesperson said security forces had killed one militant during an encounter in Kupwara. Security forces and suspected militants were engaged in a gunfight in the morning in a forest area in the district. The spokesperson said the operation was now over.
Two Army personnel were injured when suspected militants hurled a grenade at a patrolling party forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian town on Friday morning, Greater Kashmir reported.
