A suspected militant was killed on Friday in an encounter near Trehgam in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, an Army spokesperson said. Security forces and suspected militants were engaged in a gunfight in the morning in a forest area in the district. The spokesperson said the operation had ended.
Meanwhile, two Army personnel were injured when suspected militants hurled a grenade at a patrolling party of security forces in the state’s Shopian town on Friday morning, Greater Kashmir reported.
“Both the soldiers were hospitalised,” Shopian Senior Superintendent of Police Shailendra Mishra told GNS news agency. The incident took place in Ahgam village. The area was cordoned off and security forces launched a search operations after the attack.
