A group of unidentified people on Thursday beat up a journalist in New Delhi’s CR Park area, allegedly because of a dispute over car parking.
A photograph shared on social media showed the journalist, Soumik Dey, with an injured eye and blood on his face. Dey works with The Week magazine. He has undergone treatment and is currently recovering, the police said.
“The incident took place in the evening,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya told Scroll. “We are yet to receive any complaint in connection with the matter.”
The police claimed that they found about the matter after other journalists questioned them about it, and have now sent a team to CR Park’s D Block to investigate the matter.
