Three Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs from Gujarat on Wednesday claimed several state ministers and bureaucrats were not listening to them, IANS reported. They alleged that officers had got “thick-skinned” and showed a callous attitude towards public representatives.
“Ever since the present government took charge six months ago, the bureaucrats in the state are working at their whims and fancies,” said Waghodia legislator Madhu Srivastava. “And when we go to meet the ministers on the designated Tuesdays for us, we are unable to see them.”
The other two MLAs who met reporters on Wednesday were Yogesh Patel from Manjalpur and Ketan Inamdar from Savli. They made the claims hours after Chief Minister Vijay Rupani left the country for a six-day tour. They said several other legislators were angry with the working of the government.
“Today we are three but tomorrow there may be 13 or 23,” Srivastava said.
Yogesh Patel said their only demand was that problems of their electorate be resolved when they speak about them. Ketan Inamdar said their anger was not against the party or the government but with the attitude of officials. “The government which is trying to do best for the people, should sure have control over the bureaucracy but it appears the officials have got thick-skinned,” he said.
Cabinet minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama later said he would meet the MLAs along with Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and state party chief Jitubhai Vaghani.
