Karnataka swimmer Srihari Nataraj bettered his national record timing to win the 200 m backstroke Boys Group I on the fourth day of the 35th sub-junior and 45th junior National Aquatic Championships.
Srihari, who clocked 02:03.17 beat Xavier Dsouza of Goa, who won silver with a time of 02:07.81 and Aryan Bhosale from SFI, who claimed bronze with a time of 02:08.88.
In the 100 m freestyle boys group II event, Veer Khatkar set a new record (00:53.69), whilst beating Aryan Varnekar of SFI and Assam’s Gyan Sandhan Kashyap.
Advait Page of Madhya Pradesh broke his own national record set last year by nearly 7 seconds to win gold in the 400m individual medley for boys group I, clocking a time of 04:34.76. Yash Varma of Delhi won silver with a time of 04:45.42 while Sanskar Tokas of Delhi won the bronze with a time of 04:46.56.
Aaryan Nehra of Gujarat, meanwhile, broke his own record in the 1500m freestyle in boys group II. Nehra clocked 16:33.27 to win gold while Kapil Shetty of Karnataka won the silver and Hriday Santosh of Chhattisgarh won the bronze medal.
