A Sukhoi aircraft crashed near Nashik in Maharashtra on Wednesday morning, PTI reported. Both pilots on the aircraft ejected safely before it hit the ground, police said. There were no casualties.
The aircraft that crashed was an under-production Sukhoi Su-30MKI twinjet multi-role air superiority fighter. The incident took place at 11.05 am at Wavi-Tushi village near Pimpalgaon Baswant town, around 25 km from Nashik, police said.
The aircraft was developed by Russia’s Sukhoi and built under licence by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. It had taken off from the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited airstrip near Nashik, police said.
