The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday said that a woman who had accused a passport officer of harassing her about her marital status has not lived at the Lucknow address she has put on her application form for the past year. Instead, Tanvi Seth has been living in Noida, they said, according to PTI.

Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar said rules state that applicants should be staying at the address filled in the application form for at least one year. The police have sent its report to the Regional Passport Office. “Now, the RPO will take the appropriate decision,” said Kumar. “She was not living in Lucknow for past one year. She was living in Noida and doing some work there.”

Unidentified police officials told NDTV that the couple may be asked to file more documents or submit an application at the passport office in Noida.

Seth and her husband Mohammad Anas Siddiqui had last week accused an officer at the Passport Seva Kendra in Lucknow of harassing them. Vikas Mishra had reportedly asked Siddiqui to convert to Hinduism and instructed Seth to change her name in all her documents. Mishra was transferred the day after the couple tweeted to Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.
