The trailer for The Equalizer 2 brings Denzel Washington back as retired Central Intelligence Agency black ops operative Robert McCall. At first, he is leading a relatively quiet life as a Lyft driver (who throws the occasional punch to help people who have been wronged). But when his old friend Susan is murdered, McCall decides to avenge her death by tracking down her killers.
The film is a sequel to Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer (2014), which earned more than $192 million worldwide. In the first film too, McCall, who desires a quiet life after retirement, is forced to return to his old ways to rescue a young girl from the Russian mafia.
The Equalizer 2, which has also been directed by Fuqua, is Oscar-winning actor Washington’s first-ever sequel. Also starring Ashton Sanders, Pedro Pascal, Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman, the film will be released on July 20.
