A special episode of The Late Late Show took an unexpectedly emotional turn when the host, James Corden, was unable to hold back tears after singing along with Paul McCartney.
The former Beatles member joined Corden for his popular “Carpool Karaoke” segment as they drove past famous landmarks in Liverpool connected to the band. McCartney told Corden that a dream, in which his mother reassured him saying “It’s going to be OK. Just let it be”, was the inspiration for the song Let It Be.
After the duo burst into a rendition of the song, Corden choken up. “I didn’t see that one coming around the corner,” he said. The episode features McCartney and Corden discussing their families, songs by the Beatles and ends with a surprise performance in a Liverpool pub.
