Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan on Wednesday met Election Commission officials in New Delhi to register his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam, PTI reported. Haasan launched the party in Madurai in February.
The party would get registered soon, Haasan told reporters after the meeting. “I came here for a formal meeting,” he said. “They asked certain questions. They are not having any major objections.”
The officials have not yet given a time frame for the party’s registration, Haasan said. He said he had not yet decided on the election symbol.
The party had announced a 15-member high-level panel, and among its members are retired IPS officer AG Mourya, actor Sripriya, Tamil professor and actor AS Gnanasambandan, actor Nazar’s wife Kameela Nazar and writer Su Ka.
