Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police SP Vaid said on Tuesday that security forces killed three suspected militants in an encounter in Pulwama’s Tral area. A jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force was injured during the gunfight. The operation is now over.
The three militants are believed to be from the Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit, including a top leader. A joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Rashtriya Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force had launched a cordon-and-search operation in Nazneenpora Hyuna village after authorities received specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
The CRPF jawan is being treated at a hospital.
“We have tightened the cordon to ensure that militants don’t escape from the area,” Greater Kashmir had reported, quoting an unidentified official.
