Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations were marked across the globe on Saturday after a month of fasting and special prayers during Ramzan. The festival is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation. “May this auspicious day bring you happiness and celebration for the families of all and strengthen brotherhood, mutual harmony in our shared society,” tweeted Kovind.
“Eid Mubarak! May this day deepen the bonds of unity and harmony in our society,” Modi wrote on Twitter.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi also wished people. West Bengal Chief Minister attended a special prayer at Kolkata’s Red Road area and wished devotees “happiness and endless blessings”.
