Six passengers were killed and 25 injured after a state-run bus fell into a gorge on Coonoor-Ooty Road near Manthada in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district on Thursday, reported The New Indian Express.
The bus was carrying around 40 passengers, and was on its way to Coimbatore from Ooty. The driver of the bus was trying to avoid a pit on the ghat road when the accident took place, according to PTI.
An unidentified police official told The Hindu that two women and four men were killed in the accident while 10 passengers suffered severe injuries. Injured passengers were rushed to hospitals in Ooty, Mettupalayam and Coimbatore.
