The presentation of the 2018 Tony Awards was as star-studded an event as usual. Still, of all the famous names walking the red carpet, it wasn’t a human who stole the limelight – it was Sparky the Goat.
The goat arrived in style, dressed in a black bow tie with a white collar. Sparky, who appears in the Broadway musical Once on This Island, was there to support his fellow a actors, including Hailey Kilgiore, who was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Musical. He was accompanied by producer Ken Davenport.
Sparky also left his mark on the red carpet quite literally, like goats often do, prompting the cleaning crew to tidy up. He even went into the Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, New York, where the show was held, and watched a performance by the ensemble. Sparky has thousands of followers online, including on the Instagram account he shares with his fellow cast mate and goat, Peapod.
Once on this Island won the Best Revival Of A Musical award. The play tells the story of a young peasant woman named Ti Moune, with elements of Romeo and Juliet.
