India’s badminton doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty is the latest entrant in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). The duo recently won silver in the men’s doubles badminton event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The TOPS is a part of the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) with the objective of identifying and supporting potential medal prospects for the 2020 Olympic Games.
The three other athletes to make the list were trap Shooeters Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Lakshay Sheoran and Seema Tomar.
Sandhu bagged gold in the 2006 Shooting World Championships along with two World Cup gold medals. He also won gold during the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
Sheron is the top-ranked shooter in India and recently won bronze in the Junior World Cup in Australia. Tomar has won gold in the Asian Shooting Championships in 2014 and silver at the Shooting World Cup in 2016 in England.
