Chandana Bala Kalyan is an Indian classical music singer who usually entertains her audiences with Carnatic compositions. Once in a while, though, she re-imagines a song from another part of the world, singing it the way she might sing a raga.
Kalyan has posted a video of herself singing the Dave Brubeck Quartet’s jazz classic Take Five, which is already famous for being rendered in different styles around the world.
Not surprisingly, the video is being shared and reposted furiously as music-lovers respond to this creative rendition. The bonus: Kalyan sings the notes by name, so that enterprising musicians can now get their notations for the number.
