Movie star Prosenjit Chatterjee has been confirmed as the new host of Ke Hobe Banglar Kotipoti, the Bengali version of the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati. Television channel Colors Bangla will telecast the new season from July 16 between Mondays and Fridays at 9pm. The BIG Synergy production was originally premiered on Mahuaa Bangla in 2011, and was hosted by cricketer Saurav Ganguly.
“We are upping the ante on our content-line up this year and a marquee show like KBC is a step in that direction,” Rahul Chakravarti, the business head of Colors Bangla and Odia, said in a press release. “Bengalis are known for their wealth of knowledge and now is the time for them to showcase their talent to the world.”
Based on the British game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Kaun Banega Crorepati was premiered in 2000. All nine seasons have been hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. The Tamil version, Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi, was hosted by Suriya, while Nagarjuna steered Meelo Evary Koteeswarudu in Telugu. Suresh Gopi anchored the Malayalam version Ningalkum Aagam Kodeeswaran.
