If men menstruated instead of women, would the menstrual cycle still be considered taboo?
Mozez Singh’s short film First Period explores such a parallel universe and examines the onset of menstruation from the perspective of a school-going boy, Ayush. The film traces the reactions of his all-male family members, teacher and classmates.
Written by Ishani Banerji, the film is produced by Dasra, a non-governmental organisation, and MH Alliance India. It has also been supported by writer, producer and former actress Twinkle Khanna. The short film was released to mark World
Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed every year on May 28.
