Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday booked Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Choudhary Lal Singh’s brother after a video showing him using derogatory language against Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was shared widely on social media, the Greater Kashmir reported.
Earlier on Monday, Choudhary Lal Singh marched from Lakhanpur to Hiranagar in Kathua district demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the Kathua case, in which an eight-year-old girl was murdered after allegedly being gangraped in January.
The clip shot at the rally shows Lal Singh’s brother Choudhary Rajinder Singh using abusive language against the chief minister. A group of people can be seen cheering him as he speaks.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah demanded legal action against Choudhary Rajinder Singh.
Choudhary Lal Singh was one of two ministers – the other being Chander Prakash Ganga – who had resigned on April 13 amid outrage over their participation in a demonstration in support of an accused in the Kathua case.
