Vishnu Vardhan and N Sriram Balaji clinched the ATP Challenger men’s doubles title at Samarkand. The Indian duo got a walkover in the final from Mikhail Elgin and Denis Istomin.
Elgin and Istomin had incidentally beaten the other Indian pair of Saketh Myneni and Vijay Sundar Prashanth in the quarterfinals.
Balaji and Vishnu had won nine titles last season, including three Challengers. They are aiming to make it to the Grand Slams this year.
Another Indian, Riya Bhatia, also won a doubles title. She and Madeleine Kobelt of the United States beat the Israeli pair of Shavit Kimchi and Maya Tahan 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the title at the ITF USD 15K event in Tiberias (Israel).
In the ITF USD 25K event in Wuhan (China), Rutuja Bhosale lost in straight sets to local favourite Yue Yuan in the semi-finals.
