Now that the UK’s royal wedding has finally taken place and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially wed, it’s time to give thanks to the one person who is truly responsible for getting them together – Ellen DeGeneres.

“I’m a little hurt that I wasn’t invited to the royal wedding because, first of all, I’m family,” said Ellen. “And secondly, I should have been invited because I’m responsible for Meghan Markle’s true love...her dog.” Apparently, Markle once said in an interview that it was DeGeneres who convinced her to adopt a dog.

And so, the talk show host joked that if it wasn’t for the dog, Meghan Markle would have been searching for love in all the wrong places and would never have met Prince Harry.
