The Bhopal Police on Thursday arrested a man after they found the decomposed and mutilated body of a woman he used to live with in the city’s Pragati Nagar area, NDTV reported.
Ashoka Garden town inspector Sunil Shrivastava said the postmortem examination report indicated that she had been raped and murdered.
The police entered the couple’s one-room tenement after residents in the locality alerted them about a foul smell emanating from the room, Hindustan Times reported. “They hardly interacted with their neighbours,” Shrivastava said. “While the woman mostly stayed at home, the man is said to be a labourer.”
The accused has claimed that the woman was his fourth wife, the police said.
