The Mumbai Police have arrested three people, including a minor, for allegedly killing their 15-year-old relative for not offering namaaz in the Antop Hill area, ANI reported on Wednesday.
The incident took place on May 4. When the girl refused to offer namaaz during Friday prayers, her aunt allegedly strangled her with a dupatta, the police said. “On Friday, when she did not offer namaaz, her relatives got angry and committed the crime,” Senior Police Inspector of Antop Hill Sudarshan Paithankar told NDTV. “Three have been arrested and all are her relatives.”
The family members took her to a hospital and told the doctors that the girl died after falling down in the bathroom. The doctors, however, informed the police as they found marks on the neck of the girl.
