Police in Bikaner detained three people for their alleged role in the death of a man in an inter-faith relationship with a woman, PTI reported. The man died in a hospital hours after being thrashed by the woman’s family on Tuesday night.
Six people, including the woman’s father and cousins, allegedly abducted 22-year-old Saif Ali Khan on Tuesday night, beat him and threw him in a drain, police said. Police found the man and took him to a hospital, where he died on Wednesday morning.
“The man was involved in a relationship with a woman,” local police sub-inspector Bhajan Lal told PTI. “When the woman’s family came to know about the affair, they fixed her marriage elsewhere but the man tried to contact her and get her to elope.”
The police have filed a case against seven people for murder, wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, destroying evidence, and rioting, the Hindustan Times reported. An investigation is under way.
