At least five people were killed after a tempo traveller crashed into the van they were travelling in on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Panvel on Monday morning, ANI reported. The victims’ van had broken down on the highway and they were pushing the vehicle to the nearest repair facility when the accident occurred.
Three other passengers sustained injuries in the accident and are being treated at a local hospital.
The victims, all residents of Mankhurd in eastern Mumbai, were travelling to Pune to attend a wedding.
The driver of the tempo traveller fled the accident site, The Times of India reported.
