An Indian Navy aircraft, which was on a test flight in Russia, made an emergency landing on Saturday, NDTV reported. No one was injured.
The plane, which was sent to Russia for a mid-life upgrade and overhaul, landed at Zhukovsky Airfield outside Moscow after a chassis failure. There were seven Russian crew members on board the IL-38 plane.
“The IL-38 successfully landed with the unlowered front landing gear,” Sputnik News quoted Russian authorities as saying. “Firefighters are nearby, there is no fire.”
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Moscow earlier this month and held discussions with her Russian counterpart General Sergey Shoygu and Trade Minister Denis Manturov, NDTV had reported. They had decided to speed up negotiations for various military platforms. Russia is one of India’s biggest arms and ammunition suppliers.
