The police in Uttar Pradesh on Monday arrested a 14-year-old boy for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Bareilly.
According to the complaint that her father lodged, the boy raped her when she had gone to the fields alone. The incident took place on Sunday evening.
The police have filed a first information report under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and the Indian Penal Code’s sections pertaining to rape, the Hindustan Times reported. Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Kumar said they would include other charges in the FIR after receiving reports of the girl’s medical examination.
The teenager, who studies in the same school as the girl, has confessed to the crime, according to DNA. The police have also sent the accused for a medical examination.
