Four people were killed and two injured in a shooting at a Waffle House restaurant in Nashville city in the United States on Sunday, reported The New York Times. Three people died at the scene while one died at a hospital.
Nashville Police Department tweeted that the gunman opened fire at 3.25 am (2 pm Indian Standard Time). A patron managed to wrestle away the rifle being used by the suspect, police said. “He was nude (and) fled on foot.”
Nashville Police Department spokesperson Don Aaron said the suspect arrived at the restaurant in a pickup truck, sat in the parking lot for four minutes and shot two people with an assault rifle in the parking lot. “He then went inside and continued firing”, reported CNN.
The police department also tweeted a photo of a man, Travis Reinking, who is a “person of interest”. Police said the gunman arrived in a vehicle registered to Reinking.
Police said they are looking for the suspect, who was wearing only a green jacket and was otherwise nude at the time of the shooting, according to ABC News.
Nashville Police Department spokesperson Don Aaron said the suspect took off the jacket after fleeing the restaurant. According to witness reports, he went into a nearby apartment complex where he lived and put on a pair of pants, said Aaron, reported Chicago Tribune.
Nashville Police Department tweeted that a man believed to be Travis Reinking was last seen in a wooded area near the Waffle House.
Jennifer Wetzel, a spokesperson for Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, said one of the injured is in critical condition, according to The New York Times.
Pat Warner, director of public relations and external affairs for Waffle House, called it a “very troubling” situation. “We are sending our corporate team from Atlanta and heading to Nashville now”, according to ABC News.
