A Central Reserve Police Force officer was killed in a gunfight with Maoists in a forest in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, the police said on Saturday.
“Assistant Sub Inspector Anil Kumar Maurya was killed in the incident,” Deputy Inspector General of Police (South Bastar Range) Sundarraj P told PTI.
“The gunfight between the forces and Maoists took place on Friday night, when a team from CRPF’s 212th battalion was on a search operation in an forest area around 500 km from the state capital Raipur,” the DIG said. He added that security forces were now on a combing operation in the area.
