Tanmay Bhat, comic artist and co-founder of the Indian comedy group All India Bakchod, had an interesting conversation recently with Robert Kyncl, the Chief Business Officer of YouTube, on the impact and future of India on the video network.
“How big a deal is India for YouTube?”, asked Bhat. “Massive, in absolute terms”, replied Kyncl. “And it’s massive in its growth rate. Usually, you don’t get those two things at the same time”.
It was an uncharacteristically serious discussion in terms of the ground it covered. But so long as YouTube and Kyncl can ensure that India lets them laugh all the way to the bank, they won’t feel a need for comedy.
