The National Investigation Agency on Friday filed a chargesheet against the son of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin for his role in an alleged terror funding case, PTI reported. The agency said Syed Shahid Yusuf will be arrested soon and produced before a special court in New Delhi.

District judge Poonam Bamba scheduled the matter for May 4.

In September, 2017, the National Investigation Agency had searched 16 locations in various parts of Kashmir and Delhi as part of its investigation into alleged funding given to militants by Pakistan-based groups to create unrest in the Valley.

On October 24, 2017, the agency had detained Yusuf for allegedly “receiving and collecting funds through international wire money transfer from Aijaz Ahmed Bhat,” an absconding member of the Hizbul Mujahideen. The investigation agency claimed Yousuf has received Rs 4.5 lakh through the transfers.

On October 26, 2017, the agency had said Yusuf had admitted to receiving funds to stoke terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir. “During his questioning Syed Shahid Yusuf has admitted to have received funds from the cadres of Hizbul Mujahideen, on the direction of his father Syed Salahuddin, for fomenting terrorist activities in the Valley,” a senior official from the agency had told Scroll.in.

Yusuf has been in judicial custody after a trial court denied his bail petition on March 7.
