Narendra Modi on Tuesday commended Sweden for partnering India’s defence sector and said there would be new opportunities in the future. He made the remarks during a joint press conference at the end of a meeting with his Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven.

The two countries also signed and exchanged a document on “Joint Innovation Partnership” and announced the adoption of a joint action plan.

“We have decided to strengthen relations as far as cyber security is concerned,” the prime minister announced. The two leaders also discussed ways to deepen trade and business relations between the two countries. Modi talked about Sweden’s contribution to the Make in India programme, and recalled that Loven had been present with a big business delegation at one such event in Mumbai in 2016.
