China’s One Belt, One Road initiative is not solely a Chinese project but has several other Asian countries participating in it, a top diplomat said in Kolkata on Thursday.

“OBOR was born in China, but it runs through a lot of East Asian countries,” IANS quoted Chinese Consul General in Kolkata Ma Zhanwu as saying. “Wherever OBOR goes, these countries share discussions and instructions among themselves.”

“It is not China’s solo project but is kind of a symphony of all countries,” Ma said at an event organised on the theme of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Beijing’s One Belt, One Road initiative includes the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor connecting Kashgar in western China with the Gwadar Port in Pakistan. India has been against the project as a part of the corridor passes through Gilgit-Baltistan, which New Delhi has said is part of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
