Four members of a family died after a fire broke out in their building in North West Delhi’s Pitampura area early on Friday morning.
The police identified the deceased as Rakesh Nagpal, his wife Tina Nagpal and their two children, aged seven and three, PTI reported. The police added that the rescue services personnel saved three people, who are undergoing treatment at the Ambedkar Hospital.
An official from the Delhi Fire Service said they had received a call around 2.50 am about a fire in the stilt-parking area of a four-storey building and 10 fire tenders doused the blaze in about an hour. He added that the Nagpals were sleeping on the first floor of the building. Though they tried to escape, they died of suffocation, the official said.
