The Bihar government on Thursday revoked its order withdrawing the security at former Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s house. As many as 32 officers of the Bihar Military Police, who left Rabri Devi’s residence on Wednesday, have now been reinstated at her house.
Rabri Devi, the wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, had alleged a conspiracy by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi and the state government behind the move to withdraw her security.
“Laluji is in jail and dying every day,” she told ANI on Wednesday. “I don’t know whether he’s dying of a disease or being killed using medicines. His sugar level is rising. How do I trust the government? If the government asks us to vacate our house, we’re ready to do it.”
She had also written to Nitish Kumar saying the Bihar Home Affairs Ministry would be held responsible “if any untoward incident takes place with me and my family”.
Her son Tejashwi Yadav, who has taken charge of the Rashtriya Janata Dal in the absence of his father, said his family would give up the security the state government provided them. After the order reinstating the security was issued on Thursday, he said Nitish Kumar should clarify who issued the first order as he holds the home minister’s portfolio in the state.
