In Syed Ahmad Afzal’s short film You and I, internal debates about separations and meetings get magnified as a woman tries to make peace with her loss.
Shot entirely with an iPhone camera, the film begins with a woman (Tara Alisha Berry) walking down a beach. As she journeys away from the shore, a long conversation plays out between her and her partner. She vows that this will be the last time that she will meet the man she is obviously pining for, but the final meeting shatters her more than she would have anticipated.
Punctuated with extreme close-ups and shots of brilliantly green locales, You and I is an experiment that is oddly unsettling in its tranquility. It can be viewed on Humara Movie’s YouTube channel.
