The price of subsidised liquefied petroleum gas has been reduced by Rs 1.74 per cylinder and that of non-subsidised cylinder has been cut by up to Rs 36, state-owned oil and gas company Indian Oil Corporation has said. This is the fourth consecutive time since December that LPG rates have been reduced.

Effective since Sunday, subsidised cooking gas now costs Rs 491.35 per cylinder in New Delhi, Rs 489.04 in Mumbai, Rs 494.33 in Kolkata and Rs 479.44 in Chennai. A 14.2-kg non-subsidised LPG cylinder costs Rs 653.50 in Delhi, Rs 625 in Mumbai, Rs 676 in Kolkata and Rs 663.50 in Chennai – a reduction of Rs 35.50 to Rs 36.

Oil marketing companies revise prices of cooking gas and jet fuel at the beginning of every month.

The price of aviation turbine fuel, commonly known as jet fuel, was also reduced by around Rs 231 in Delhi to Rs 61,450 per kilolitre. Indraprastha Gas Limited raised the price of compressed natural gas by 90 paise per kg and of domestic piped gas by Rs 1.15 per standard cubic metre in Delhi, effective from Monday.

Piped natural gas for households in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad will be costlier by Rs 1.20 per standard cubic metre, IANS reported.
