North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his wife Ri Sol Ju attended a concert by South Korean K-pop singers in Pyongyang on Sunday.
This was the first time in more than a decade that artists from the south have performed in the north, and also the first time that a North Korean leader attended a South Korean performance in the capital, Reuters reported.
The concert comes just weeks before leaders of the two countries meet on April 27.
Kim was seen clapping along, and he even met performers backstage, BBC reported. More than 11 acts of the concert are planned in Pyongyang.
Over the past few weeks, North Korea has been indicating its commitment to bringing peace to the region.
On March 29, it announced that Kim would meet the South’s President Moon Jae-in on April 27 during a rare inter-Korean summit in the Panmunjom truce village. Earlier, Kim made a surprise visit to China, and in a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, committed to the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.
Earlier this year, the North had sent its performers to the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea.
