The Madhya Pradesh Police filed a first information report against Shankar Pariyan after the hotel building he owned collapsed on Saturday, killing 10 people, ANI reported on Sunday. City Superintendent of Police BS Parihar said Pariyan had decided to go ahead with construction work on the building despite a warning from the hotel manager, who died in the collapse.

Police have deployed personnel to search for the owner. The Gwaltoli Police have registered a case against Pariyan under Sections 304 (culpable homicide) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide).

Hotel manager Harish Soni’s family claimed he had warned Pariyan about a potential risk from the construction work to the building that was over 50 years old, the news agency reported.

The three-storey hotel building collapsed in Indore after a car rammed into it on Saturday night, Deputy Inspector General of Police Harinarayan Mishra told ANI.

The building was located near a bus stand in the crowded Sarwate locality of Indore. The car had crashed into a weight-bearing pillar of the hotel, according to Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey.
